Noémi Ligeti-Nagy has been selected among the awardees of HTE’s “Top 50 Women in Artificial Intelligence”

Noémi Ligeti-Nagy, research Fellow at the ELTE Research Centre for Linguistics and head of the Language Technology Research Group, has been selected among the awardees of HTE’s “Top 50 Women in Artificial Intelligence”.

The initiative of HTE (the Scientific Association for Infocommunications) aims to present and recognize, on professional grounds, those exceptional women experts whose knowledge and responsible leadership shape the development of artificial intelligence in Hungary.

Noémi Ligeti-Nagy considers the evaluation of language models’ Hungarian capabilities her most important task. Under her leadership, the HuLU (Hungarian Language Understanding Evaluation Benchmark Kit) collection was created; the first and, to date, only Hungarian platform for assessing discriminative models. For generative models, she and her colleagues developed HuGME (Hungarian Generative Model Evaluator), which provides quantitative evaluations of aspects such as bias, toxicity, instruction following, and Hungarian language proficiency. She also sees AI education as a key mission: through public talks, school visits, and teacher-training programs, she strives to familiarize as many people as possible with the basics of AI and the workings of language models, so that Hungary will have an ever-growing community of informed, capable AI users.
